Amanda 'Casabianca' Whelan

During our campaign to have sex offender Pete Townshend cancelled from playing at the SuperBowl half-time show, a London-based blogger named Amanda Whelan attached herself to the campaign, posting articles and comments attacking our work, organization and CEO. So much so that it deserves a public response.

Amanda Whelan (aka Super Amanda, Superamanda) is a friend of Pete Townshend's other half Rachel Fuller. Amanda is Fuller's self-proclaimed mouthpiece and thus, one must guess, Townshend's as well.

Amanda 'Casabianca' Whelan is more than a declared Townshend/WHO fan. She is a peddler of pornography and erotica and is a parasitic builder of traffic for her own websites. Whelan has demonstrated that she will do or say just about anything to draw traffic to her sites in which she is featured as a 'model.' This includes using the topic of sexually abused children and child pornography as a springboard to promote her websites. She also fits the definition of a stalker due to the continued harassment.

Let's backtrack a bit.

Prior to the WHO's playing at SuperBowl in 2010 One Child International objected to Townshend's presence at a major U.S. family based on Townshend being a registered sex offender in the UK.

Townshend was on the register for admitting to downloading and possessing images of child rape and molestation. Unlike other offenders in the UK who were raided in the early morning hours, Townshend was tipped off to a police raid a week prior to a search of his home. By the time the police arrived the computer with the images had disappeared but Townshend's admission was already made and recorded. He was caught because on one occasion he used his own credit card to access the child rape image sites. Full video of his arrest is on the this site here (see under 'Resources - video' at the bottom of the page)

Townshend defended himself using one of the FBI's most frequently heard excuses when he admitted to possessing child pornography claiming he was doing 'research.' Ironically that excuse is now know in the UK law enforcement community as the 'Townshend excuse.'

When he plead guilty he avoided a court appearance and was placed on the ViSOR - sex offender list. As such he was required to check in the police regularly and notify them of his movements.

When One Child started its campaign to stop Townshend's appearance at the SuperBowl Townshend's girlfriend Rachel Fuller and her friends started a virulent - and personal - counter-attack. Amanda 'Casabianca' Whelan was one of them. It ended quickly though. On her blog Fuller announced that she had been given legal advice to stop the campaign and deleted comments made.

Whelan however continued ramping up the attacks and in doing so helped in a small way to catalyze the interest in Townshend's sex-offender past. She posted on all of the comments sections of news articles about Townshend to direct traffic to her own sites.

What she did is called 'chasing' in Internet public relations circles and is the reason why people are encouraged to ignore what is written about them online. If an article is chased by the subject, fans etc who write repeated commentary on the articles, the effect is to stimulate interest from the media - sometimes exponentially - who believe that there is a story worth covering. As importantly it also stimulates traffic to the chasers website which, in this case, seems to have been the whole purpose.

When Whelan's attacks became defamatory some of her more nasty personal attacks were removed as a result of a cease and desist warning from One Child's UK solicitors. If you Google our CEO's name 'Evin Daly' you'll see posts she pushes as a means of drawing you into her sites.

Legal Remedy
In 2010 Whelan was served with a cease and desist letter. An attempt to resolve the situation amicably was ignored by Whelan.

In July of this year - 2011 - Whelan has been served with a letter from our Dublin-based attorney demanding that she cease and desist her libelous and slanderous blog entries and online stalking immediately. He has informed her that failing the immediate removal of her defamatory writing and the issue of a full and unequivocal published apology he will, on our behalf, prosecute her criminally and civilly seeking substantial monetary damages and costs. Amanda Whelan (aka Super Amanda), her husband Kevin Whelan, Pete Townshend, blogger and their employers may be named in the suit pending ongoing investigation. A compliant has also been filed with the police in California (her home state) and in the London.. A copy of the letter will be posted shortly as will any response.

Cyber-stalkers like this enjoy the attention that their attempts to disrupt bring; even negative attention, it's part of their narcissism. It is no different to what stalkers do when they harass people off-line. In general it is best to leave them alone and they become bored and move on. Whelan however is using the topic of child sexual abuse and child protection to garner attention. That, as you can imagine, demands action on our part.

As an end-note, on Nov 11, 2010 Whelan objected to Amazon's removal of a resource guide to pedophilia from their system, 'The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure: A Child Lover’s Code of Conduct.' Commenting she wrote 'I am DONE with Amazon permanently. No apology, no explanation from them...' (Mail Online: Read - Amanda Casabianca-Whelan, Tower Hamlets, 12/11/2010 00:23)

With regard to Townshend's guilty plea to possessing child porn here's the evidence. He was charged with possession and he admitted to - plead guilty - to possession to avoid going to court. All of the evidence - articles and video - are available here on these pages.
