Child sex abuser Gary Glitter’s making money (again)
with Jim Carrey's new movie “Yes man!”

December 12, 2008:  Gary Glitter, the convicted pedophile and child sex abuser, is back making money again thanks to Jim Carrey’s new movie “Yes man." The movie opens in the U.S. on December 19 and in the UK on December 26. One of the TV commercials for the movie carries the background jingle “Rock ‘n Roll – Part 2” by – you guessed it – Gary Glitter. This has been brought to the media's attention by child sexual abuse prevention watchdog Child AbuseWatch (www.abusewatch.net)

The song was co-written by Glitter and Mike Leander, the song was a big hit for Glitter in the UK and the US. Glitter owns this song and benefits financially every time it’s used. The NFL and NHL stopped using the song at games in 2005/06 after Glitters arrest and conviction on child sexual abuse charges.

Glitter was recently expelled from Vietnam after serving a jail sentence for having sex with children. He is a previously convicted pedophile in the United Kingdom. Read about him here in this Times article: ‘Gary Glitter - mad, bad or just dangerous to know?3 Glitter is nearly constantly in the UK news such is his reputation as a faded rock star and as a child sex abuser.

Evin Daly, Child AbuseWatch’s founder and director said “It’s incredible that once again Gary Glitter’s - a world renown pedophile - music is being used in a way that benefits him financially and so inappropriately in a Christmas release family movie, 'Yes Man.' Glitter’s reputation isn’t exactly a secret.” AbuseWatch has written to the studio and has attempted to contact Carrey personally. Child AbuseWatch.net was responsible for leading the charge in halting Hewlett Packard’s “Touch” commercial that used Glitters music in November of this year.

Child AbuseWatch.net would like to see the song use addressed and removed by Warner Brothers, Heyday Films and Jim Carrey prior to the release. They suggest an apology and a donation to Speak Up For Kids, a child advocacy non profit that represents the Guardian ad Litem program in Palm Beach.

Child AbuseWatch.net is a U.S. based Child Abuse Prevention organization (www.abusewatch.net) which provides child abuse prevention resources to the general public, 36,000 Guardian ad Litem/Court Appointed Special Guardians nationwide, health-care professionals and law enforcement. CAN also tracks absconded sex offenders and provides information to Federal authorities. Privately funded, 100% of all donations go directly to children in need through Guardian ad Litem Programs. www.abusewatch.net Contact: info@abusewatch.net
